I have newly come into possession of 9, what seem to be collector series, Pan American Airways envelopes which display 3 dimensional depictions of China, Hawaiian, and Philippine Clippers. All have cancelled Trans Pacific Air Mail stamps of 20 and 25 cent denomination. One has a San Francisco cancellation of Jul 13 or 18 1937 10:30 AM. (The day's date looks like a smudged 13 but could be an 18. Someone of stamp deciphering ability would be able to discern) This example is adorned with (5) red 2 cent stamps showing a profile of George Washington with UNITED STATES POSTAGE printed on a banner spanning an arch over his head. no date is listed. And then we have (2) green Trans Pacific Air Mail 20 cent stamps showing the rays of the sun, about 4 ships, a plane flying straight toward you, and two seals, or flags one on the top left and the other at the top right corners. The envelopes are also very busy with emblematic: eagles, oak branches, arrows, winged globes, San Francisco and Hawaii skylines, and finally red, white, and blue ribbon border. The other eight examples are similar but have been cancelled in Honolulu Hawaii REPLY TO POST |
